I found this video on Facebook of a four (4) year old singing the famous Whitney Houston song, "I will Always Love you." At first he sang it in a different language before singing it in English. It didn't matter...it was the way this four year old sang it that had me on my knees weeping as I held my son's urn.
It was such a powerful -but yet such a loving way- it was more than "wow" but the voice of a four (4) year old, that child's voice that made me realized that this was a way for Tim to let me know how much he loved me but wanted me to move on.
Ok, I know many of you don't believe this, I know what the Bible says. However, if you never lost a child, and never know how it changes you, then at this point maybe you don't get it. But I do.
You must hear this song to get the sense how a parental loss brings comfort that you may never understand until you actually experienced it. Sadly, you may have to experience it to not only understand a parental grief, the sensitivity to it to get it. Nothing we wish upon anyone...God forbid.
But if it brings comfort along with sweet memories, I welcome it. Anyone with parental loss, dealing with that grief...welcomes it. It may be the only thing that brings us comfort.
God often uses our deepest pain as the launching pad of our greatest calling.
