Journal- Fundraising for the Adventist Homeless

Have you ever had someone come up to you and asked you if you knew who they were but they remember your name and who you are, but you couldn't in a world remember them or their name?   Recently, while staying at a hotel, a young man...a good looking young man came up to me and called me by name and asked me if I remembered him.  I recognized him, but could not remember his name. Once he said it I did remember him....& from church.

And guess what?  Justin who has not been in our church for a while, is currently homeless and also staying at the hotel. Again...how many now go to church who are homeless and the local church can only help us once??  Ok....right now I won't go there.

This surely reminds me so much of how often Jesus comes up to us, calling us by our name and ask us if we remember Him.  Do we remember him...& by His name?

The nice thing is that this last Sabbath I had some friends stop by to visit. They were on their way home from their family vacation. They had their two grown children there with them on this vacation...yes the Harley's.  Tim & Donna with Melissa (now a school teacher) and Michael (yes, the one who got doctors degree in Physical Therapy).   We spent church time and potluck time together and they got home on time and safely.

Well the good news I also got the part  (part!) time job caring for this sweet young lady who is slowly developing Alzheimer's.  The other good news is that they have this beautiful 2 bedroom 1 bath apartment with huge bedrooms. and I mean huge. My original plan was to get 2 bedrooms and have one room as an office and place memorize Tim but when I saw this I could actually have a room mate and have plenty of place for an office in my room plus a dresser and a king size bed (if I had one).

So I really want it and the only problem is that I am so broke! I would need to raise $700 by the middle of August plus for utilities as well. So basically about $1000. Can I do it? I have to have faith in God that He will provide.

I also want to do a fundraising for the homeless members of our church.  We really need to raise a minimum of $10,000.    Kathy has a great idea of a 5k, I'm thinking also of a Christian concert. We can also do a penny drive.

Whatever and whenever, I know we need to pray and ask for God's guidance, blessing and favor.  Jesus is coming soon and perhaps those of us thousands from the Church as a national, not just a local, is NEEDING YOUR HELP!!    Please pray for all of us!

God Bless!
